Valentine’s DayIf you’ve grown tired of the usual restaurant dinner date on Valentine’s Day, it’s time to find some other ways to fire things up. Planning an amazing Valentine’s activity in Kansas City is easier than you think. Here are some great alternatives for couples in Kansas City.

Take an Art Class

Art Experience at the MOD Gallery in the Crossroads Arts District provides fun art classes in a relaxed environment. You don’t need any experience and the studio provides art supplies. Classes are upbeat and social. All participants are welcome to bring drinks and snacks. You and your partner can create your own masterpieces or do a split canvas. Two tickets for standard panels cost $70 or upgrade to stretched canvas for $90.

Cozy up in a Cooking Class

If food is more your thing, The Culinary Center of Kansas City offers easy-to-follow cooking classes. They’ll be hosting an “Appetite For Seduction” class, a three-hour cooking class specially designed for couples, on Valentine’s Day. Enrollment is limited and likely to fill up fast, so book early. Cooking together is always romantic. If you both really enjoy it, you can continue with private cooking classes at your home.

Relive Your Teen Years

Remember when going on a date as an awkward teenager meant hanging out in a video arcade? If you and your partner were teenagers in the 90s, you can take a trip back in time at Up-Down. This unique throwback recreates the arcade experience of the 80s and 90s. There are more than 50 arcade games, pinball machines, Skee-Ball alleys, and Nintendo and Sega consoles. You’ll even find life-size Jenga and Connect Four games. All games cost only 25 cents. You’ll have a blast and afterward, you can head to the patio area for pizza, a beer, or a cocktail.

Experience Zip Lining at Sunset

For the adventurous couple, Zip KC offers a Sunset Date Night Tour. The tour begins around sunset and covers all nine of their lines. Zip from tower to tower through the trees as the sun casts a golden glow. The whole exhilarating experience lasts 3 hours. Costs are $188 per couple on Wednesdays and $198 Thursdays to Sundays. If you’re thinking of popping the question, inquire about their proposal packages. As this is an outdoor activity and the weather is still cool in February, make sure you dress warmly.

Cool out With Jazz at the Green Lady Lounge

We love Kansas City music venues at Olathe Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram! The Green Lady Lounge is an iconic jazz venue in Kansas City. For the couple who loves music, take a step back to a bygone era. This retro-style jazz venue features red velvet walls covered in vintage oil paintings, mid-century hanging lamps over the bar, and staff dressed in suits and cocktail dresses. Local jazz musicians take center stage every night of the week and there’s no cover charge. It’s warm and intimate and perfect for a romantic Valentine’s date. Make the night special by dressing up — shiny shoes, cocktail dress, and feather boa all welcome!

Think about your common interests when planning the perfect Valentine’s Day. Doing something you both enjoy is a great way to bond as a couple. There’s certainly plenty to do for every type of couple in Kansas City.
