Max. Towing Capacity
If you need to handle the toughest tasks on your Overland Park jobsite, then you’ll likely need the power of a heavy duty truck. Depending on your budget and capability needs, there are two heavy-duty options in the RAM truck lineup. Compare the RAM 2500 vs. RAM 3500 to see which one offers everything you need to take on your daily to-do list!
Starting at $36,950 MSRP, the RAM 2500 is slightly less expensive than the RAM 3500, which starts at $38,300 MSRP. Both come standard with the 6.4L HEMI® V8 that provides 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. Both trucks also offer a 6.7L Cummins® Turbodiesel I6 that provide 370 HP and 850 lb-ft of torque.
However, those who need as much power as possible will gravitate toward the RAM 3500 and its available High Output 6.7L Cummins® Turbodiesel I6, which pumps out a whopping best-in-class 1,000 lb-ft of torque.
While both models offer incredibly strong towing capability, there’s no doubt that the RAM 3500 towing capacity is more substantial than the RAM 2500 towing capacity. The RAM 3500 is capable of towing up to 34,480 pounds, while the RAM 2500 can tow up to 19,780 pounds. When considering payload, the RAM 3500 can deliver a payload of up to 7,050 pounds, while the 2500 offers 3,650 pounds.
Regardless, both the RAM 2500 and RAM 3500 are capable of handling a massive amount of cargo and equipment, so it’s really just a matter of your preference and needs.
While you may be more concerned about power and payload, you can rest assured that the RAM 2500 and RAM 3500 both provide all the comfort, convenience, and connectivity features you’ve come to expect from a modern pickup truck. From the standard Uconnect® interface and 5-inch touchscreen display to available premium leather upholstery, you’re sure to enjoy the features found in the RAM 2500 and RAM 3500. Additional features include:
As you compare the RAM 2500 and RAM 3500 HD pickup trucks, towing capacity is likely the deciding factor. If you want to retain as much car-like drivability as possible for daily Gardner commutes, then RAM 2500 is the heavy-duty truck for you. However, if you’re willing to pilot an even larger truck to ensure massive capability, then the RAM 3500 is the truck for you.
